MedDRA coding
Code a synthetic case and record the term choices you would defend.
What you'll practice
- Split a reporter's words into codeable events
- Choose a term and write why you kept or dropped nearby terms
- Flag wording that is too vague to code
- Keep the coding sheet consistent with the narrative facts
Sample input
Preview: three reporter phrases from a synthetic case — headache after the first dose, stomach upset, and a note that says the patient felt unwell. The term list is hidden.
What you'll submit
A coding sheet: verbatim, chosen term, and a one-line justification for each row.
Scoring rubric
Term choice · 40 points
Each coded event matches the verbatim and does not add a diagnosis the source does not support.
Justification · 30 points
You explain the choice in a sentence a reviewer can check.
Omissions · 30 points
Vague phrases are marked as not coded, with the reason.
What you receive
A score from 0 to 100, written feedback from a reviewer, and a portfolio record you can share after review.
FAQ
Which MedDRA version?
Use the terms you know. The review checks the reasoning, not a licensed browser session.
Can I leave a row blank?
Yes, when the words are too vague. Say why.
